Carla Pucci da Filicaja is one of the most famous Italian botanic illustrators and has exhibited at numerous national shows. As well as for Aboca, she has created botanic iconography and naturalistic plates for the Department of Botanical Sciences of the University of Sassari and for Guccio Gucci Spa. She writes about her love for botanic illustration: "I chose to follow a Green path, which for me has neither technical nor scientific limits: it is just life. I love plants, they are sources of unlimited and extremely original inspiration, and I paint them because I am fascinated by their engaging uniqueness. After meeting with the plant the natural illustration grows and the hand moves by following the emotions caused by listening to its 'plant song'. I slide into the mysterious tangle of ivy, I get lost in the intricate branch network of a tree to observe and listen. I listen to the discussions of the plants, conversations about being highly evolved and sophisticated, sensitive beings that move, communicate between one another and with whoever is capable of listening to them".
