Much of the material featured here has never been published in any of his previous books. They are essays that combine and connect the two sides of Capra's professional life, his life as a scientist and scientific commentator on the one hand, and as an educator and environmentalist on the other. They consequently reflect the highlights not only of his own work but also of the history of social movements: the counterculture of the 1960s, the New Age movement of the 1970s, the emergence of green politics in the 1980s, the rise of a global civil society between the 1990s and the present day.
 Capra's research on changing paradigms in science and society culminated in the publication of his essay Vita e natura: una visione sistemica, co-written with Pier Luigi Luisi.
 La relazioni della vita maps the developments in Fritjof Capra's thinking: from his fascination with quantum physics and oriental mysticism, culminating in the writing of the Tao of Physics, to his transition from the mechanistic world view of Descartes and Newton to a systemic and ecological vision, to his battles as an environmental activist and educator. Today, Capra is one of the most important references for understanding the debate that brings together physics, spirituality, environmentalism and systems theory, a revolutionary intellectual and one of the greatest thinkers of our time.
